Introduction:

Pantoprazole (Full Name: Pantoprazole Sodium) is a very well know medicine for the treatment of acidity and gas. Normally it’s available in capsule and tablet in India. Pantoprazole is available with the combination of domperidone, levosulpiride, itopride.

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that means it reduce the acid production in the stomach by blocking hydrogen/potassium adenosine triphosphatase enzyme. In this way it helps to treat excess gastric acid-related diseases of like hyperacidity, gas, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD), and peptic ulcer disease.

  • Hypomagnesemia: Long term use of omeprazole may decreases the magnesium levels in the blood (hypomagnesemia).
  • Bone fractures: Long term use of omeprazole may decreases the calcium density in bone.
